Who We Are

Homeward Veterinary Care is an independent mobile veterinary service providing compassionate, professional, gentle care for dogs and cats across Nottingham and surrounding areas.

We believe veterinary care should be as comfortable and stress-free as possible. By bringing veterinary care directly to your home, we can assess and treat your pet in familiar surroundings while giving you the time and personal attention you need.

From routine and preventative healthcare to illness consultations, pet travel certification and compassionate end-of-life care, our approach is centred around your pet’s individual needs, welfare and comfort.

Lacramioara Cantoriu DVM MRCVS CertNCS(VPM) - Veterinary Surgeon

Lacra graduated in Veterinary Medicine from USAMV Cluj-Napoca in 2014 and moved to the UK in 2015. She initially worked as a Meat Hygiene Inspector and Official Veterinarian before progressing into small animal practice, where she developed broad experience across many aspects of companion animal veterinary medicine.

She enjoys the variety that general practice brings and has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery, while continuing to enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine. Her approach centres on providing compassionate, practical and individualised care, with the welfare and comfort of each pet at the heart of every decision.

Homeward Veterinary Care reflects her desire to provide a more personal approach to veterinary medicine, bringing professional care into the familiar surroundings of a pet’s own home and allowing owners the opportunity to discuss their concerns in a relaxed environment.

Outside veterinary medicine, Lacra enjoys spending time with her son Oliver, her partner Kersey, and their dog, Jack Jack.

Teodora Balan DVM MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

Teodora graduated in Veterinary Medicine in Romania before continuing her veterinary career in the UK. Since qualifying, she has gained a broad range of experience across veterinary practice, animal health, disease control and certification.

Her career has included working as a Meat Hygiene Inspector (MHI), carrying out bovine tuberculosis (TB) testing, and working with the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) as an on-duty call vet, supporting responses to animal disease outbreaks. She has also worked as a tracer vet within the greyhound racing sector and as an export vet, gaining valuable experience in animal health, traceability, disease prevention and veterinary certification.

This varied experience has given Teodora a practical and well-rounded understanding of animal health, while also teaching her the importance of approaching every animal as an individual. She brings a calm, caring and practical approach to her work and is committed to providing professional veterinary care that is tailored to the needs of each pet and their family.

Teodora particularly values the opportunity that home visits provide. Being able to care for pets in their own familiar surroundings can make veterinary visits more relaxed and comfortable, while allowing families to be closely involved in their pet’s care.

Outside of work, Teodora enjoys spending time with her daughter, Oana, her husband, Catalin, and their much-loved pets — Diamond the dog and Mitzy the cat.
